An Artistic Heritage

Oritsetsonaye Donna Bennet is a visual artist with a deep passion for bringing imaginative visions to life. She was born in Nigeria, with Ghanaian heritage on her paternal side. Bennet has been painting since she was very young, as her parents fondly remember.

Bennet comes from a family with a strong connection to Nigerian creative history. Her parents had close ties to Fela Anikulapo Kuti, a legendary figure in Nigerian music. Bennet’s mother, Grace Oduro, designed album covers for Fela’s albums, one of which was featured at the Design Museum in London.

Also, around that time her father performed in a few plays at the ‘Round House’ in Chalk Farm, London. His theatre group was called ‘Placenta Arts.’
