Geometry, memory, and emotion converge in the work Geometry, memory, and emotion converge in the work of Dasha Wesel, a Philadelphia-based visual artist whose practice transforms technical precision into deeply personal visual narratives.

Born in Belarus and shaped by both engineering and loss, Wesel creates bold, geometry-driven compositions that explore identity, human connection, and the architecture of feeling. Through drawing and serial composition, each work begins with structure and evolves into a space where colour, form, and memory intersect.

In this interview for The Flux Review, we speak with Dasha about the relationship between logic and emotion, how personal history informs her conceptual process, and the ways in which art can turn structure into reflection.

In this latest interview, Victoria Plotnikova reflects on a practice shaped by lived experience, where personal testimony and collective memory converge through a powerful visual language. Working across linocut and colour monotype, her compositions explore the psychological impact of war, displacement and the fragility of identity.

Through fragmented forms and symbolic narratives, Plotnikova creates work that does not simply depict, but translates experience, inviting a deeper emotional and human response. At the core of her practice is a commitment to bearing witness, opening space for reflection on resilience, trauma and the broader realities that continue to shape our world.

A practice shaped by instinct, discipline and a li A practice shaped by instinct, discipline and a lifelong dialogue with painting.

In our latest interview, Zheni Warner reflects on a journey that began in Bulgaria under the guidance of her mother, painter Violeta Maslarova, and evolved into a deeply personal, materially rich practice in the UK. Her work moves between abstraction and form, where every mark is considered, yet led by an intuitive exchange between artist and canvas.

From luminous glazes to layered surfaces, Warner’s paintings hold a quiet intensity, often absorbing the weight of contemporary realities. Her current series, The Disasters of War, draws on the enduring legacy of conflict, translating it into works that are not about narrative, but about something more lasting – the moral resonance that remains.

This is a conversation that moves through influence, process and the subtle balance between control and surrender in painting.

Enter the unsettling world of Amy Coyne. Working Enter the unsettling world of Amy Coyne.

Working across felt-based character creation and film, Coyne constructs haunting narratives that sit somewhere between the handmade and the cinematic. Her work draws on the language of horror not simply to provoke fear, but to explore the psychological weight behind it — the choices we make, the consequences that follow, and the things that refuse to let us go.

Through her short films Sherry and St. Augustine, she introduces Alvis — a quietly disturbing presence whose story unfolds across time, shifting between observer and subject. These are not films that offer resolution. Instead, they leave space for discomfort, inviting the viewer to sit with what is unresolved.

Her process is entirely immersive, spanning set building, props, lighting, camera and sound — a fully realised world shaped by hand.

Amy Coyne is not just creating horror. She is questioning what truly unsettles us.

Hong Kong–based artist Kwong Kwok Wai approaches painting as a visual diary, where cartography, history and personal identity converge. Working with a hybrid technique that combines traditional Chinese pigments and oil, Kwong creates layered compositions that feel both precise and fluid, grounded yet uncertain. His practice reflects a deeply considered dialogue between past and present, East and West, structure and emotion.

Fernando Velázquez paints against the current, creating what he describes as ‘mental landscapes’ — spaces where emotion takes form and the invisible begins to surface. His work is not about depiction, but presence. A quiet resistance. A moment of stillness held within paint.

At a time when everything competes for attention, Velázquez reminds us that meaning often lives in what is left unsaid.

We’re also so excited to share that he will be exhibiting with us this September at FLUX Exhibition in London.

In a culture driven by editing, filtering and control, Sarah Peters creates work that resists all three.

Working in black on white, her ‘stream of consciousness’ practice allows emotion, thought and instinct to move directly onto the page, unfiltered and uncorrected. Abstract mark-making and handwritten text exist side by side, forming works that feel immediate, raw and deeply human.

Nothing is concealed. Nothing is revised. What appears is exactly what was meant to be there.

New Interview Live on The Flux Review In an era s New Interview Live on The Flux Review

In an era shaped by digital imagery, artificial intelligence and the constant circulation of self-representation, identity is no longer fixed but continuously constructed, edited and redefined.

In this conversation, Romeo Bud reflects on a practice that sits between painterly tradition and technological shift, using painting to examine the evolving nature of the human condition.

At the core of his work is an exploration of the relationship between the organic and the artificial, expressed through the profound transformations contemporary identity is undergoing. Working at the intersection of body, memory and system, he considers how technology, artificial structures and mechanisms of control reshape perceptions of self, time and human connection.

Working primarily in oil, his practice moves between figurative and abstract forms. His figurative works centre on posthuman representations, hybridised bodies in states of transition, where flesh and mechanism coexist without conflict. These figures do not imagine a distant future, but reflect an already active condition, where technology has become an extension of perception, memory and decision.

Themes of perfection, immortality, fragmentation and the loss of intimacy run throughout, questioning what remains of the self within increasingly mediated systems.

Working primarily in papier-mâché, Farrer constructs intricately detailed animal heads using recycled materials, transforming discarded paper into striking sculptural forms. What began as a response to time spent in South Africa, and a growing awareness of conservation, has evolved into a celebrated body of work that challenges the legacy of taxidermy while honouring the beauty of the natural world.

Each piece carries a quiet tension: at once playful and poignant, decorative yet thought-provoking. His work invites us to reconsider our relationship with animals, not as objects of display, but as subjects worthy of care, attention and respect.

Introducing Kat Holmes, an emerging painter whose Introducing Kat Holmes, an emerging painter whose practice is driven by an intense, ongoing dialogue between emotion, memory and process.

A BA Fine Art graduate from UWE, Kat has been deeply immersed in painting since the age of 21. Currently a studio resident at Document in Bristol, her work continues to evolve between locations, now rooted in the North West of England.

Her paintings return repeatedly to themes of love, loss, abandonment and the shifting nature of self. There is a raw honesty in her approach, where personal experience becomes both subject and material. More recently, her process has taken on a precise, almost analytical rhythm, likened to working through a mathematical equation, where each layer is reconsidered, challenged and resolved over time.

For Kat, a painting is never immediate. It is something lived with, revisited and refined until it reaches a point of emotional and conceptual clarity. Each work becomes an extension of self, carrying both presence and permanence.

Alexa Harris is a contemporary artist whose practice moves between painting, drawing and object-based work, grounded in rawness and deconstruction. Her compositions often retain an unfinished edge — an unfilled space within a landscape or a headless figure, preserving a sense of immediacy and immersion. Renowned for her powerful depictions of women and their strength, her work confronts vulnerability without softening it. The figures feel present, unapologetic and emotionally direct.

New Interview Live. Catarina Diaz is a contempora New Interview Live.

Catarina Diaz is a contemporary artist whose practice merges analogue collage and painting into a single tactile process. Each work begins with carefully constructed layered fragments, onto which she paints directly – allowing surface, image and gesture to evolve together.

Her compositions often place animals alongside the female form, creating subtle dialogues between instinct and identity, vulnerability and quiet strength. These relationships feel intuitive rather than illustrative, unfolding as emotional landscapes that reward sustained looking.

In an increasingly digital culture, Diaz’s commitment to physical materials feels deliberate and grounded. Cutting, layering and painting become acts of refinement, embedding themes of femininity, resilience and transformation within the very structure of the work.

An award-winning artist who has exhibited internationally, she continues to build recognition for her distinctive visual language. Her figures, constructed across taped sheets of paper with seams deliberately exposed, feel both architectural and autobiographical. They do not simply depict the body; they interrogate it.

Trained under Royal Academy tutor Dilip Ur and later developing her practice in Los Angeles with painter George Small, Haynes brings classical draughtsmanship into dialogue with an uncompromising contemporary sensibility. Her work has been exhibited at The Haymarket in London, acquired by Saatchi Gallery, and featured in Every Secret Thing directed by Amy Berg.

She is currently exhibiting at Zebra One Gallery as part of their Women in Art exhibition, where her work can be viewed in person.

Across paper, stage and screen, she explores exposure, power, vulnerability and strength with visceral clarity.

Lucie Flynn is a UK-based contemporary artist whos Lucie Flynn is a UK-based contemporary artist whose practice explores emotion, transition and the quiet spaces between endings and beginnings. Working with mixed media, layered text and the female form, she creates pieces that reflect the often unseen thresholds women move through during periods of change.

Combining spray paint, acrylic, ink and collage, Lucie builds textured surfaces where words are partially revealed and partially concealed. Language becomes both anchor and atmosphere within the work. Rather than offering neat resolution, her compositions unfold slowly — inviting reflection rather than conclusion.

Lucie is currently exhibiting at Zebra One Gallery as part of their Women in Art exhibition, where you can view her work in person.

New Interview Live. Gwenda Jones is a British scu New Interview Live.

Gwenda Jones is a British sculptor whose work moves between the equestrian and the human form with equal sensitivity. Working predominantly in clay, she captures moments of quiet strength, distilled gesture and emotional presence. Whether sculpting a poised horse or a contemplative figure, Jones seeks not theatrical drama, but essence.

@gwenda_jones_sculpture

Her sculptures reveal a deep understanding of anatomy, balance and weight. Forms are refined yet expressive, simplified yet resonant. There is discipline in her modelling, but also empathy. Each finished piece carries structural clarity alongside a sense of lived observation.

Equestrian themes remain central to her practice, reflecting a lifelong affinity with horses and their unique combination of power and vulnerability. Alongside this, her figurative works explore posture, intimacy and stillness. Across both subjects, Gwenda Jones creates sculpture that feels timeless, grounded and quietly compelling.

She is currently exhibiting at Zebra One Gallery as part of their Women in Art exhibition, celebrating powerful female voices in contemporary practice.

New Interview Live. Tracy Bickley is the artist b New Interview Live.

Tracy Bickley is the artist behind Care Home for Punks — a body of work that fuses raw text, urban intervention and unfiltered social reflection.

Often seen moving through the streets with cans of black paint, climbing over discarded furniture and abandoned mattresses, Bickley transforms the overlooked into something confrontational and poetic. For her, the act is both protest and therapy — a release for the heart and soul.

The mattress becomes both canvas and metaphor. Worn, stained and thrown away, it carries traces of intimacy, illness, rest and neglect. Across these surfaces, she sprays phrases that are direct, humorous, defiant and sometimes quietly tender. The black paint cuts through faded fabric, creating a stark tension between vulnerability and voice.

She is currently exhibiting at Zebra One Gallery as part of their Women in Art exhibition, celebrating powerful female voices in contemporary practice.

New Interview Live. We are delighted to feature a New Interview Live.

We are delighted to feature an online interview with Lara Julian on The FLUX Review website.

https://www.thefluxreview.com/lara-julian/

Colour, in the hands of Lara Julian, is never merely decorative – it becomes structural, psychological and alive. Her paintings do not simply depict; they create their own internal atmospheres. Through disciplined vertical rhythms and carefully layered hues, she builds fields of energy that move between control and intuition.

Born in Siberia and now based in London, Lara’s path into painting was anything but conventional. A former career in international finance subtly informs the architectural precision of her compositions, yet what unfolds on canvas is deeply sensorial and immersive. Each work becomes a meditation on perception — on how colour shifts, vibrates and interacts within space and within us.

She is currently exhibiting at Zebra One Gallery as part of their Women in Art exhibition, further celebrating female voices within contemporary practice.

In our interview, she speaks about process, evolution and the subtle shifts that shape her current body of work.

Each edition is curated with attention to narrative, practice and long-term value. Features become part of an artist’s professional archive, reaching collectors, curators and international audiences in a tangible form.

The magazine is not simply documentation. It is stewardship of contemporary voices.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Zebra On Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Zebra One Gallery @zebraonegallery in Hampstead, where a special group exhibition was held to celebrate Women in Art for International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day offers a powerful opportunity to honour women in the arts, recognising both their extraordinary contributions and the challenges they continue to navigate. For generations, women have been underrepresented in the art world, yet their impact across painting, sculpture and mixed media has been profound and enduring.

This exhibition brought together nine talented artists whose practices explore identity, resilience, strength and vulnerability. Each voice was distinct, yet together they formed a compelling and timely dialogue.

It was especially meaningful to support my best friend, Catarina Diaz, who was one of the exhibiting artists. Seeing her work within such a thoughtful curatorial context made the visit all the more special.

We are delighted to share that The FLUX Review will be featuring interviews on our website with all of the artists involved, offering deeper insight into their practice, process and inspiration.

Spaces like this matter. Championing women in the arts is not just about one day, but about sustained visibility and meaningful support.

Thank you, Gabrielle, for such a warm welcome.

@thefluxreview is featuring international art coll @thefluxreview is featuring international art collector, curator and entrepreneur Sonia Borrell @SONIABBLONDON and her new global mentorship platform StudioToGallery in Edition 14 of The FLUX Review publication.

@studiotogallery

A new international survey released alongside the launch reveals a stark reality for unrepresented artists — with 89.6% believing connections now matter more than talent when building a successful art career in 2026.

Founder of The Tryson Collection (est. 2008), Sonia has dedicated her career to discovering and nurturing talent across Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Germany, the UK, the US and Spain. Her collection has been featured in major institutions including the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum and the Museo Novecento.

She owns works by leading contemporary figures including Alex Katz, Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Jaume Plensa and Robert Nava, and advises major art groups across China and Saudi Arabia.

The survey highlights:

• 79.8% have received no professional guidance since leaving education
• 74.5% do not feel confident sustaining their practice financially
• 80.5% report stress or burnout affecting their creative work
• 65% say art world pressure has negatively impacted their mental health

We explore mentorship, access, and how collectors can help reshape opportunity for independent artists in Edition 14 of @thefluxreview

Art lovers follow movements.
Art collectors move them further.

Have you read our online interview with @luliabilyk — Yuliia Feofanova?

In this deeply moving conversation, she reflects on how traditional Samchykivka painting became both anchor and voice during displacement — a way to reconnect with identity, heritage and resilience.

“Before the war in my country, I painted for myself using traditional techniques, but abroad, Samchykivka helped me cope with the difficulties of immigrant life and connected me with eternal values and my identity. When the world is divided, art unites, it speaks and makes us speak. This is my way to talk about Ukraine and bring bright colours to this world.”

Her work reminds us that painting can be more than image — it can be testimony, memory and hope.
